Drinking in Moderation

I pulled this little snip-it out of Self Magazine a few months back:

“Happy Hour indeed: Moderate alcohol intake has been shown to lower heart disease risk by reducing plaque buildup in arteries. But too much imbibing has been linked to breast cancer. Play it safe and stick to one a day (a 5-ounce glass of wine, a 12-ounce beer or 1 1/2 ounces of liquor).”

Think about this the next time you’re topping off glass after glass. An extra glass here and there won’t knock down the whole house of cards, but don’t get into the habit of overindulging; and certainly avoid binge drinking. If you don’t drink during the work week, it does not excuse a 5-6 glass weekend! Have your one glass with dinner each night or 4 hours before bedtime to help you relax.
