Natural Remedies

With so many chemicals and pharmaceuticals available to soothe our woes, it’s nice to be able to find things in nature that are a little less harsh  on our bodies. This short article from Shape Magazine offers a few alternative remedies.

Mother Nurture

Many natural remedies are based on folklore. But we found three plant-powered picks that have science on their side.

Alleviate Anxiety: In a recent Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine study, taking a daily 340-milligram dose of rhodiola significantly improved mild to moderate anxiety. In another trial, the same amount of the supplement eased depression and insomnia.

Calm Cold Sores: German researchers found that a topical ointment containing the herb lemon balm reduced redness and swelling in only two days.

Soothe Stomach Pain: Peppermint oil relieved symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome in several studies. Take 0.2 to 0.4 ml enteric-coated capsules three times a day.

What natural remedies have you used and found to be helpful? We have had excellent luck with oregano oil for all number of things.
